Budapest's party district in transition: the fight for quality of life and nightlife

Budapest's famous seventh district party district, known for its lively nightlife, is currently undergoing a transformation. In recent years, mass tourism and short-term rental have caused conflict with local residents. Mayor Péter Niedermüller is planning comprehensive measures to improve the quality of life. This includes regulating opening times, cleanliness measures and promoting cultural initiatives.

Despite these efforts, some problems remain, such as traffic and disturbance at night. Stricter rules for the operation of bars and nightclubs as well as the creation of new public squares and green spaces, as well as a “rapid response team” and a stronger police presence should help to improve the situation.
